H Mozilla Greece και πολλοί άλλοι Open source activists συνεργάζονται με πολίτες δημοσιογράφους για να δημιουργήσουν τεχνολογία για το web. Η ανοιχτή πρόσκληση από την  Mozilla Greece στο Facebook αναφέρει: Ας χρησιμοποιήσουμε ελεύθερα δεδομένα και τεχνολογίες open source για να “χακάρουμε τα νέα”. Η πρόσκληση ισχύει για απόψε το βράδυ 6 η ώρα στο Μέγαρο της ΕΡΤ και ουσιαστικά θα έχει σαν αντικείμενο την ανάπτυξη ανοικτών εργαλείων δημοσίευσης ειδήσεων – Open News Webmaking
